Last Thursday, the CartaNova team attended Hamilton’s Sustainable Cities Forum and a talk by on economist and recent author Jeff Rubin (TVO Video) at the beautiful Liuna Station. The forum brought together local professionals to discuss issues of waste management, transportation, energy, and sustainability. It was an informative morning where we were lucky to connect with like-minded people who are also working in the Hamilton area.

We've recently updated our about page, which now includes a new Flickr Photo Stream of our "Green Space Meetings" along the Niagara Escarpment.  About a year ago, we decided to start our meetings by walking and talking in outdoor spaces.  Here's Why:

Wayfinders, Our New Monthly Not-for-Profit Series

We're starting a new series on CartaNova's Blog called Wayfinders (a name borrowed from this book) to highlight organizations engaged in innovative community and environmental work.

My hope is that our readers will connect with some of these stories and volunteer a small amount of time and/or resources towards helping these good projects succeed.  Stay tuned!

What do Tony Hawyard, Pete Rose, Jospeh Hazelwood and Homer Simpson have in common? They are all on our new 404 Error Page which features some of the Worst-Employees-Ever. Who else should be included?

Comprehensive, Wind-Powered 'Green' News

Renewsing (motto: Reducing, Reusing, Recycling, ReNEWSing) is a project of Canvas Dreams, whom we work with to offer wind-power web hosting to our clients.  The site aggregates RSS news feeds from the many participating green companies who host their web sites on wind-power.

The site is a fantastic source for green news - covering everything from eco-social responsibility news to the green construction trade.  You can find us in the design & marketing category.

Announcing the Muskoka Bike Train!

We're happy to relate that one of our oldest clients, The Bike Train has announced pilot service to Muskoka area on their new Ontario North lines this August and September.  Be sure to check out this great Bike Train Video.

We're happy to share our interview with The Spectator, the city and regional newspaper for Hamilton, Ontario.  The city is currently working hard to foster Clean Technology Development, and our wind-powered web hosting and 'eco-friendly' approach is a good match.

Thanks are due to 'The Spec' and Jennifer Patterson et. al at Hamilton Economic Development for some recent publicity and networking efforts on our behalf!

As an eco-friendly web design firm we are often asked: how relevant to the environment is being 'green' on the Internet?
