How to Manually Install a Magento Extension

Magento eCommerce is wonderful, powerful software that includes a download manager for installing Magento Extensions (add-ons) directly from their Magento Connect service.

However, auto-installation may not always be available or be the best option (for example, the download manager may not work with a site-duplicate testing area or on a local server).  Here's how to manually install a Magento extension.

Magento_IconMagento 1.4+ includes an easy-to-use feature for connecting to the Google Merchant Center (formerly 'Google Base') and uploading product data for placement in the BETA Google Product Search.  Unfortunately, that feature is based on a single Google login, which may be a problem if you have multiple domains and stores in your Merchant Center Account.  Here's the solution:
