CartaNova News and Media Coverage

Media coverage of CartaNova, Product Updates and remarkable stories from our work.

Weever Apps, a project started by CartaNova and now lead by Rob and Andrew of CartaNova has now launched a "free mobile apps" plan, whereby anyone with Joomla or WordPress can get noticed on the mobile web for free!  Just go to WeeverApps.com and sign up for your free HTML5 web-app!

As web designers, we quickly recognized that our green business and community not-for-profit clients had no way to affordably participate on the mobile web. So we took a walk. We spent two days hiking on the Bruce Trail (near Tobermory, Ontario) talking about the future of the web. We wanted to make the mobile web more affordable, accessible, and democratic.

Now Weever Apps is here! The basic version is only $30 per year now free and we want your help to get the word out.  Plese share our story on Twitter and beyond!

Details on Weever below - Thanks! - Andrew and Rob

Editor's Note:  This post was *bumped* up again in our blog on March 25th due to high interest!

This is big! I'm very excited to introduce Weever, our new service that creates a mobile version of any Joomla! or Wordpress web site in minutes.

On March 2, we participated in Hamilton’s first DemoCamp. We had a great time courtesy of the amazing and unbelievably helpful folks at the Hamilton Innovation Factory and the Greater Hamilton Computing and Software Network.  For the first time in public, we showed Weever, our true HTML5 "instantly-make-your-site-a-web-app" service (in this case for the Joomla! CMS).

We're presenting a talk on Democracy, the Mobile Web and Joomla! this Thursday Feb.17th  to the Joomla! User Group Meeting for South Western Ontario (JUGSWO).  Join us!  Details below...

CartaNova is proud to share our latest work for Red Hill Coffee Trade, a fair-trade organic coffee roasterie.  Red Hill's new site runs on the cloud-hosted Shopify eCommerce Platform.  Being able to help successfully grow ethical green companies like Red Hill is one of the core goals of our business philosophy.

Sometimes in life it rains. Other times, though, it rains awesomeness and video game surprises.

We're proud to announce our new Code Labs, a place to share our tips & tricks with the Joomla!, Magento, JQuery and general open-source programming communities. We'll be launching two lab projects in 2011 - an AJAX Joomla! Contact Form and a *big* Mobile Project!

We've recently updated our about page, which now includes a new Flickr Photo Stream of our "Green Space Meetings" along the Niagara Escarpment.  About a year ago, we decided to start our meetings by walking and talking in outdoor spaces.  Here's Why:

On Wednesday we were guests of Jay Rosenblatt at the Golden Horseshoe Venture Forum Breakfast.  Being a self-started small business, brushing elbows at the posh Burlington Golf Club involved a bit of culture shock, but we had a good time and learned about a few interesting renewable energy initiatives.

We're changing our Google AD Words Pay-Per-Click Marketing pricing in October to better reflect our return on investment (ROI) philosophy in web marketing.

It's always nice to get positive feedback from your professional peers.  That's why we were thrilled to see CartaNova's Design for Lunatic Adventures (near us in Hamilton, Ontario) shown as the first showcase image at Jooma! Canada.

Email Marketing is now available from CartaNova!  We've designed CartaNova Newsletters to be an easy to use pay-as-you-go service.

CartaNova is proud to announce the launch of a new eCommerce web site for Alpha Thermal Systems, located in Webster, Massachusetts.  ATS is a vendor of high-quality PAW Solar Heating Stations, Resol and Sorel Solar Controllers and solar heating service tools by Zuwa.

The new web site uses the amazingly robust Magento eCommerce Platform.

Here are a few of the tools that make Magento a great platform for technically-oriented products and the Renewable Energy industry in general.

A quick note from the CartaNova team: Our friend and CTCO Robert Porter was married over the weekend to his longtime partner Dilia.  Rob's ceremony took place at the spacious barn and B&B area of the LUNA Project, (a CartaNova Client!) Congratulations, Rob!

We're happy to share our interview with The Spectator, the city and regional newspaper for Hamilton, Ontario.  The city is currently working hard to foster Clean Technology Development, and our wind-powered web hosting and 'eco-friendly' approach is a good match.

Thanks are due to 'The Spec' and Jennifer Patterson et. al at Hamilton Economic Development for some recent publicity and networking efforts on our behalf!

Here's a quick slideshow of some photos from our recent two days hiking on the Bruce Peninsula. Just thought we'd share with everyone some of the sights we saw and experienced.
