Venti-Tec: A New Wind-Turbine Design
One of the highlights of the business breakfast was This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Goran is looking for investment in bringing this design to market, which he claims is as much as twice as efficient when compared to traditional turbine products. The key element here is the 'vent' in Venti-Tec, as I understand it, a pre-screen of vents channel incoming wind, increasing pressure on the turbine blades.
Gordy Presher, Solar Sentry
Gordy Presher of Solar Sentry had an interesting presentation on their work in large solar electric sites - the company develops instrumentation and web-based diagnostic services for these types of installations. In a sense, their discussion of the risk-reducing utility of monitoring solar online mirrors our experience in helping the smaller-scale solar hot water companies Solarnetix (Toronto) and Alpha Thermal Systems (MA, USA) to promote online-monitoring through RESOL as a key sales point. As we increasingly move toward the "Internet of Things" - I expect to see power and general commercial and residential net-based efficiency and safety monitoring grow.
Impressions
Overall, the GHVF Breakfast was quite an interesting event. It was great to connect with some people in the Niagara / Hamilton / Toronto business community - and I believe we'll attend again. We're also planing to attend BitNet soon, which connects people working in more technologically-oriented fields in the Golden Horseshoe area. Thanks again to Jay for the invite!
